Alex Smith runs Chalk Pit Forge in Amberley, within Amberley Museum. He has been a blacksmith for 13 years and has worked on a variety of traditional and contemporary commissions. ' I find inspiration from the metal it self. When I heat the material up its characteristics change from an uncompromising material to a material which is malleable, flexible and has elasticity. I also evolve ideas from a variety of periodic styles, the location of a piece and nature.'
