My work has a strong connection to architectural plans. I however take a tangential view of form, line and utility, reshaping it, reforming it and redefining it from the practical to the fantastical to create a 'fantasy' architectural world. I looked at all aspects of architecture from which to draw my inspiration. I always start by drawing a grid, this being my discipline, allowing me to concentrate meticulously on one square at a time. After finding aspects of architecture which particularly interest me, I manipulate or 'play' with the geometrical shapes and lines; inverting them, stretching them, expanding out particular features which interest me, until I end up with the essence of the architecture presented as a semi-abstract montage. |
