Based in the picturesque village of Walberton, near Arundel, West Sussex, Downland Art Society is an open and friendly Art Society. We may have been founded in 1944, but we are far from old fashioned. With monthly meetings, regular workshops and two successful exhibitions a year, there’s always something going on
If you love great art, make sure you visit the Downland Art Society Summer Exhibition; a popular and varied exhibition taking place as part of this year's Arundel Gallery Trail. What a great way to enjoy the summer and spend the last Bank Holiday of the year. With unframed pictures, framed paintings and canvases in a variety of sizes and mediums; watercolour, oils, acrylics, pastel and mixed media - there is something for every taste and budget.
The Society's exhibitions have become a regular haunt for art buyers and around 150 paintings are purchased every year. As paintings are purchased and taken away they are replaced with new ones, providing even more choice, so get down to the show early and don't forget to revisit later in the exhibition's run. See if you can spot which artist has won the annual 'Best in Show' award, or received a 'Highly Commended' certificate and enjoy the artist biographies. Members stewarding the exhibition are on hand and happy to help any visitors who have questions or want advice. |
