The focus for this body of work are the storms at sea I witnessed off the coast of Cornwall in the autumn of last year expressing the violence and the power of water and air this subject contrasts with my new paintings of the remarkable ancient yew trees at Kingly Vale. Kingley Vale is known for its twisted and ancient yews and includes a grove of veteran trees, which are among the oldest living things in Britain. I have attempted to express the spiritual quality and incredible age of these living cathedrals through layers of paint and the building up if textured surfaces in sand.
