Piers has an original approach to landscape and figure subjects, often recording the painting process on the surface of the painting and sometimes useing a 'key' recording colours too. He often uses surface geometry and linear tricks to reinforce the image. Drawing marks abound and his colour shifts from subtly naturalistic to totally subjective.
Recent projects have included producing five seperate portraits for a family from New Mexico, USA ; a six foot canvas of the son of Kancara, the Lloyds Bank horse, an huge canvas continuing his Swiss series and a Canaletto influenced painting of Old Portsmouth from Gosport.
He continues to paint his beloved Sussex countryside. His work can be seen in collections worldwide. |
