I am largely self taught, and work primarily with acrylics and mixed media on canvas. I love the textural effects created by layering materials and paint, and sometimes use found objects as well as papers, stamps, pens, pencils, pastels, charcoal and paint glazes. I love the idea of hidden or partly obscured elements, drawing you in as you step closer to see the details. I also use a lot of text in my paintings; words and their different uses and meanings continually intrigue me and I like to include them as another layer to each piece. As a Reiki healer I like to incorporate ideas of healing energy into each painting, using affirmations and painting intuitively, and this is something I am exploring a great deal in current work.
