Arundel based artist, Justin Robins, has been creating imaginary abstract paintings for the past several years. With a nod to street art and pop, and the influence of Matthew Lanyon, Cy Twombly and Sidney Nolan, the works possess strong bright colours and bold shapes layered with various paint methods. Within many of the works there is also a gentle humour as unusual characters seem to slowly morph in to view amid the bold architecture of the pictures.
Currently Justin is finishing work on his lockdown series titled ‘Cardigan of Modesty’, some of which will be featured in his Trail show.
Ex of West Sussex College of Design and Sussex University, Justin studied art, fashion and media. He has exhibited in Brighton and Arundel, as well as recently being a finalist in the group show at the Strand Gallery in London, for Artists and Illustrators magazine.
