Ash & Plumb was created in June 2020 by artists in wood Barnaby Ash & Dru Plumb, working across both functional and sculptural mediums they explore ancient aesthetic archetypes playfully engaging these forms in a modern context. Barnaby & Dru’s work is a celebration of the imperfect, as much a collaborative process with each other as well as the material itself. They are drawn to weathered, beaten and aged finishes, specialising in the alchemy of patina and unique surface. Their practice is inherently linked to the Sussex landscape through which their workshop is based and where they source their materials, working predominantly with green Oak sourced from trees that have fallen due to disease, decay or responsibly coppiced with a focus on timber unsuitable for commercial use.
