After completing a ceramic focused Fine Art degree at Chichester University in 2012 Annie continued to mess around with clay before setting up studio in a room with a view over the fields near Fishbourne.
Her work has always been foremost, about the fact that she loves clay. The engagement with it as a material and a fascination of the physicality of it in all of its forms. This is also why most of her work for outside is unglazed, preferring to leave the clay ‘naked’ and blend more naturally into the environment.
Inspiration for her large outdoor abstract forms is nature's abiding ability for metamorphosis, her sculptural pieces emphasise the way that things grow, flower, shrivel and eventually are claimed back and given new form.
Each piece is completely unique and is rarely started with a definite plan, but rather be allowed to develop until it feels complete.
