Caroline Brown founded The Hanover Band in March 1980 with a primary objective of enabling audiences to gain a better feeling for what earlier music of the 18th and 19th century actually sounded like by performing on period instruments. The Band performs around the world and has recorded over 176 CD’s including an award-winning Beethoven Cycle, which will form the main focus of their 2020 anniversary programme, celebrating The Band’s 40th and Beethoven’s 250th anniversary.
This exhibition brings together, for the first time, photos of those who have performed over the last 40 years with The Hanover Band. This includes some of the finest baroque musicians and singers in the world along with a Who’s Who of period instrument interpretation: including Monica Huggett, Sir Charles Mackerras, Roy Goodman, Anthony Halstead, Nicholas McGegan, Andrew Manze, Richard Egarr, Nicholas Kraemer, Paul Brough, Andrew Arthur and Benjamin Bayl.
