Ann Symes has created a series of work for Gallery57’s exhibition “Elements: earth fire”. Challenging herself to express a sense of earth and fire in a minimal, abstract way, she used limited materials – charcoal and graphite powders, acrylic gouache and powdered pigments on wooden panels, taking advantage of the grain to suggest the contour lines of the earth.
