I work in the studio in my garden in East Preston, just up,the road from the sea-I don’t paint the sea but I collect driftwood and paint/collage on it. But mainly I am a painter…
I paint people and also plants and flowers -I don’t like to call them still lives as they are living things (in French it’s nature mort, ie dead). Although I have never been to Japan, I am a fan and student of the Wabi Sabi aesthetic (hence finding the old bits of weathered wood so delightful) and I hope that this at least sometimes comes through in my paintings and collages.
