Penny was born in Whitstable and spent her childhood years surrounded by landscapes of seas; shingle beaches and tarred breakwaters. Her father painted so she grew up with easels, brushes and pigments in her Dad’s attic studio.
However she went on to take a Biochemistry degree then lived and worked in Portugal for 14 years. The raw beauty of the landscapes there inform her painting now.
Once back in England, her freelance consultancy projects afforded the chance to attend a 2 year Fine Art programme at Sussex University. She enjoys mixed media and works emotionally, sensing the open spaces, then moving to capture them with a freshness and a mood. Never fearful to change direction or to take risks.
Penny and husband Martin moved to Arundel in 2017. Working together they created their first joint exhibition for the Arundel Gallery Trail 2018.
Penny is represented by Kevis House Gallery in Petworth, and the Red Dog Gallery in Hampshire.
Venue: 54A Tarrant Street, Arundel, BN18 9DN
