Saffron is a contemporary artist based in London. She studied Fine Art at A-Level and has proceeded to continue with her artwork while studying Japanese at SOAS University of London. Working predominantly with oil on wood board and canvas, Saffron takes much inspiration from her Japanese heritage, and also the human form. Her work is very personal, as she is largely painting people she is close to, or painting loved ones for friends and family, which causes certain emotions and thoughts to be associated with each piece. While she usually approaches her work from a realistic perspective, recently she has been experimenting with a more expressive approach. Studying Japanese along with continuous independent research into the portrayal of Japanese women in art has influenced her to portray a clear message when depicting figures, particularly women.
