Tricia Wellings is a self-taught artist, whose career spans almost 30 years. Her creative inspiration has always been driven by those aspects of life that touch her heart, and move her soul. Travel and adventure were considerable driving forces early on, and so in addition to working with a number of galleries in London, this adventurous spirit led her all over the world with solo exhibitions in Hong Kong, and Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
However her deep love of the English countryside prompted a move to West Sussex in 2002. With its easy access to wide open spaces, this is where she feels truly inspired to explore the very personal and emotional process on which the creative moment is based. This move also rejuvenated her innate affinity with animals, and led to a great passion for animal portraiture. She is forever excited by the challenge each commission brings ... not only to achieve accuracy, but also the desire to capture each animal’s unique and special “essence”.
Tricia has always experimented with different media, believing that each new direction brings about new energy and direction for her work, as well as new ways to express herself. Whilst her current passion for charcoal, and for soft pastel, pose ongoing challenges to apply both painterly and personal touches to her work.
She very much hopes to see you during Trail week, where there will be much to see and discuss!
