Venue address: The Old Granary, Fitzalan Road, BN18 9JZ
A retired Marine Engineer and Consultant, painting in mixed media, exhibiting for a second year in the Art Trail. I draw and paint landscapes, seascapes, sometimes portraits and animal studies.
Twenty-five years ago, I started drawing and painting maritime scenes on nautical charts, a unique form of composition. This progressed to ‘Chart Art’, where I have graduated to painting seascapes as well as shipping, matching the chart to the scene wherever possible. I generally paint my own compositions but I have completed several significant commissions in ‘Chart Art’ with last year’s Art Trail being was the first time that I had exhibited this style.
I had the best picture in the Littlehampton Open Art Competition in 2020 then, in 2023, I was a ‘wild card’ artist in Sky Arts ‘Landscape artist of the Year’, at Hever Castle. In 2025, I won the Arundel Festival Art Trail inaugural ‘Landscape artist of the Year’ with my scene of the ‘Old Mill in Fitzalan Road’.
One of my pictures is selected for display at Arundel Station waiting room to support the Arundel Greening Project to transform the area. I’m now working on a series of paintings of ships that have influenced recent history.
