GREAT BIG GREEN ARUNDEL

Photography Exhibition

Greening Arundel is an alliance of local organisations working together on nature recovery. A series of projects delivered by a passionate band of individuals - the Green Team - are increasing biodiversity, protecting wildlife and reducing environmental harm across our town.

In June 2025, we hosted Arundel’s first-ever Great Big Green Week, part of the national initiative — with 25 events, 21 local organisations, and over 400 participants. Capturing the spirit of the week were four talented local photographers: Charlie Waring, Christian Doyle, Nigel Cull and Annabel Cary.

This exhibition, at Venue 43 of the Arundel Gallery Trail, features a selection of fine art photography from events such as the Dawn Chorus at WWT Wetlands Centre, Arundel Allotments and an inspiring urban garden designed for wildlife. The success of these events demonstrate the power of community engagement to create a more sustainable, greener town for all.

The venue itself tells its own ‘greening’ story. When Gwyn and Cathy Jones bought the house in 2014, the Georgian stable yard was derelict and unsafe. Over 10 years, they have rebuilt the structure to offset the environmental burden of the main house, with integrated solar panels in its roof. Furthermore, they removed ivy and a fig tree, which had taken over the building, and replanted four semi-mature Holm Oak trees in the garden above to create a new environment for displaced nature.

Supported by Greening Arundel and The Swan Hotel, the exhibition also offers fine art prints and postcards for sale, with a percentage of proceeds being offered to support this ongoing initiative.

Exhibition details: Private View, 15 August (6-8pm); Exhibition: 16-22 August, 2-5pm; venue: The Stable Yard, btw 48-50 Tarrant Street. RSVP to Private View: greenteam.arundel@gmail.com
