I have lived in Italy for the last ten years. I seem to be one of those people that prefers to be a stranger in a foreign land. There is a degree of distance about living in a place where the language and general culture is sometimes difficult to understand. I have always been drawn to individuals who are on the fringes.
Although my images tend to be hard, they are, I believe, also compassionate. I generally work in welded steel and concrete. I have had exhibitions in Italy and England and -like my mother a few years earlier- I have also won the Chelsea Art Society prize for sculpture.
