Veni Smith makes watercolour paintings about the minutiae of every day life - pub-goers conversing, figures in an allotment or simply sitting at home engaged in the ordinary, all portrayed with a keen observance that offers a joyful outlook.

 

There are still lives and topsy-turvy buildings too, all equally rendered with swift, expressive strokes and a strong sense of colour; her paintings bring uplift, charm and delight in equal measure.

This year she has also produced several 'paper bag paintings', working directly onto various company carrier bags with their logos and slogans sitting alongside her bright and vivacious style, lending a humorous element to her repertoire.
